Nell Rumbaugh gives my 90 year old mother piano lessons once a week. Nell's private lessons and her ability to come to you, allows my mother to be comfortable and love her lessons. So much so, she even practices because Nell makes learning a fun and enjoyable process! As for my mother, Nell is concentrating on familiar music, with technique here and there, just to get her to use her hands and the instrument. I think this is a fantastic approach to get someone motivated to get back into playing if it is something they haven't done in many years! I highly recommend Nell to anyone who is looking for a guidance and expertise when it comes to Jazz music instruction! |

My kids went to two different piano teachers before going to Nell. They finally found a love of music with her. |
Students play jazz standards, pop music, classics and anything else they are interested in playing.
Nell uses acoustic and digital instruments, to accommodate the diverse mix of interests of her students to develop a unique, custom program for everyone via Group Lessons & Private Lessons.
Group classes offer a comfortable pacing that teach students solid skills in music reading, performance, theory, listening skills, and playing in a band.
While individual classes are ideal for beginners but enjoyed by students of all ages and ability levels, group classes are social, fun, energetic, and engaging with class sizes of 3-6 students. After several semesters together learning fundamental skills, students have the option to continue instruction in the group class, or transition to partner or private lessons.

Lessons for adults
It is never too late to learn to play piano! In adult lessons, the student guides the lesson while working alongside the teacher
to build an individualized program. Whether you are just starting out or have taken before as a child and need some refreshing, you will find the joy of playing piano with Nell! Private piano lessons place an emphasis on individualized instruction with a unique curriculum tailored for each student. The curriculum emphasized in traditional lessons typically includes music reading and performance, ear training, music theory and history, sight-reading, and keyboard musicianship skills. Additional objectives focus on duet or collaborative playing, improvisation and composition, connection music to other arts and culture, and listening to and evaluating music. Students enrolled in private lessons are required to have either an acoustic piano or high-quality digital piano and are recommended for students devoted to practicing with limited involvement in extra-curricular activities.
